Cheapest I could find and it was right in the centre of Bath. 10 minute walk from both the train station and the assembly rooms.
The beds were very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Griffin Inn was ideally situated for our visit to Bath being close to the centre.
The girl at the bar/check in was absolutely amazing; very helpful and friendly. The location was great and the atmosphere really made the trip.
The room floor was very slanted but that type of thing is to be expected if you want a genuine Bath experience.
The staff were unfailingly helpful during our stay, and the food for breakfast was unusually good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent location.
Small but clean room with comfortable bed. Hot night and needed window closed to block out the road noise - but within walking access to the city centre. Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast with fresh orange juice and the access to newspapers made it a very leisurely start to the day. Definitley stay again.
clearing condition, nice hosts
relevantly small space
The staff were really friendly from the moment we arrived to moment we checked out and having a hotelerie background, we appreciated this very much. The location is great with short walking distances to theaters, shopping, train/bus station and nightlife. Fluffy white towels and great tea/coffee making facilities (organic products). The breakfast included was good and included fresh OJ, full english or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on a bagel. My partner enjoyed a beer in the bar which was very convenient! A quirky, modern room (with a nice wall-mounted flat screen room #6) above an inn, we needed a break and enjoyed it!
Being an inn, it was noisy until closing time but one should expect this and it didn't bother us at all. It was very warm in our room despite it not being summer and there was no air-con or fan. The selection of jams were impressive but the jars needed some TLC. Unfortunately for us, during breakfast some very crude and loud guests made their presence known in the breakfast room resulting in us rushing to check-out, felt sorry for the staff on duty.
It is a very attractive low key gastro/local pub and my room was attractive. The service was relaxed but attentive.
sadly the room above my room had just been refurbished. The soil pipe from their shower and loo ran behind the wall of my bed. The noise of water gushing down behind my head was shocking load waking me up in the night. The occupant above started a long shower at 6.30 am causing the sound of gushing water to keep me wide awake. However the sound then change to dripping water splashing onto my head as it came through the ceiling. The staff responded well and gave me a discount, but they should have checked the design before making a plan to have a soil pipe running just behind the wall where the bed is situated. The exit arrangements for fire were very worrying, you have to zigzag up and down the building as the door into the bar which is the quickest route out, is kept locked when the bar is unstaffed. When I went to tell staff about the water leaking, I couldnt find my way into the bar. If they fix this problem, I would recommend the hotel as it has a good atmosphere and very attractive furnishing
Comfortable room - excellent breakfasts! Central position near excellent restaurants, sightseeing etc.Friendly staff.
Some noise from outside at night,
The bathrooms were not clean, and the shower was mildewed.
It was quite groovy, as were the other guests. Location was great, staff friendly, styling quite trendy. hotel is characterful and very 'Bath'.
No phone to reception. Breakfasts were tasty but limited in choice. The sash window in our room needed repair, and the furniture was old and quirky, which is ok, but all the drawers etc stuck and needed manoeuvring. Hotel obviously not accessible for those with disabilities - I'm sure they make this evident. little en suite bathroom was musty - maybe also (like accessibility) not easy in an old building.
Location was perfect, and the room tidy
Staff don't really care, no one is available before 8 am so I left without having any breakfast or even coffee! Room not really isolated so you hear everything from the other rooms!
Friendly hotel, friendly staff. Great location. Excellent value for money.
The first entrance door I found turned out to be the side door, which was looked. A short notice on that door advising guests to try the front door would be helpful.
Excellent location for visiting Bath.
Our room was above the bar; it was very noisy until 01:30. Location on corner of two moderately busy roads meant that traffic noise was a problem as well - we had to open the windows because their was no air conditioning.
